Treacher: Yes, Carbonell was great in it, but I was amused that actor from Lost was in that scene, since Joe Carnahan was originally in line to direct M:I III, which went to J.J. Abrams in the end.
I'm extremely disappointed that Alpert won't be on Lost, but I blame Cartlon Cuse and Lindelof for inadverdently writing him into such a key character without locking his availability down.
Feel free to keep mocking Nina if you want, though of course she can't give the real answer, which is "We don't want to help out a show on a competing network."
Whether the amount that "Lost" might be helped outweighs the amount that "Cane" might be helped by Carbonell's added exposure, I have no idea. Math was never my strong suit.
2. Wouldn't the smart thing in that case be to bring up logistical problems or the like? Lost shoots in Hawaii, case closed. Don't spew out something like, "The continued success of Criminal Minds has convinced us that our network's core audience is a group of subliterates who can't correctly identify basic colors or shapes."
3. All these years later, I'm still wondering how T.J. Hooker put up with that bitchy Sammy Jo.

Sure she can, Alan. Were she to simply to state "Carbonell signed on to be a regular on Cane and as such is exclusive to CBS now," no one in this town would disrespect her for her candor.
It's hogwash like "audiences would be confused" that bleeds out your street cred.

J, man, you're my favorite person for this week.
Btw I didn't see Tassler having any problems talking openly about the competition when she was trashing "Ugly Betty" a couple of months ago. Get a backbone, Nina!
Of course, as someone above said, Cuse & Lindelof are to blame here. For a show that used to have cast as "regulars" people that ended up appearing less than John Terry, "Lost" sure was stupid not locking Carbonell, as he seems to be an important piece of the show's mythology.
Now what? They go all "Doctor Who" and reveal that every 80 years the body of an Immortal needs to regenerate, and in doing so they introduce Adrian Paul as the new Alpert?
Well, for the past couple of years, Julie Bowen has been both a regular on "Boston Legal" and had a semi-recurring role on "Lost," which should demonstrate that confusion is unlikely.
Nina Tassler confused me. Wasn't she the love interest in the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, making her 100 years old and fictional? Oh, fudge, it's so easy to confuse us simple-minded TV viewers. I sure hope I'll be able to figure out how to get the CBS on my color-box. Wow, what an insult.
He'll be freed up for Lost once Cane is cancelled . . . so give him a call mid-September, ABC.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I can really recommend "Smokin' Aces," but Carbonell is very good in it, especially in his scene with another actor from "Lost."
ReplyDeleteAlso, he'll always be Batmanuel to me.
It would be awesome if he played Batmanuel in the new "Batman" flick (especially if they could call him "Die Fliedermaus") :-)

she felt it would confuse the audience to see Carbonell playing roles on two different series at onc
ReplyDeleteYay! The heads of television networks still think their viewers are idiots! Yay!
"She felt it would confuse the audience to see Carbonell playing roles on two different series at once."
ReplyDeleteSo Michael from The Office really isn't a 40-year-old virgin?

ReplyDeleteHe doesn't get animals to build him arks, either.

ReplyDeleteI'm totally going to eat it on those "Team Sadie" t-shirts, aren't I?
Look, ma, the bad dragon lady at CBS turned the president of the U.S.A. into a mob king! How did that happen?
ReplyDeleteWhat a bitch.
Here's hoping this thing gets canceled yesterday.
So does that mean CBS will no longer be airing Allstate commercials?
ReplyDelete"[I]t would confuse the audience to see Carbonell playing roles on two different series at once."
ReplyDeleteYeah, because the last thing you'd want is to get your show confused with a top 20 hit.

ReplyDelete^ Both those shows are on ABC, though. That's synergy, man!

Wait, so is Katee Sackhoff a cyborg or a Cylon?
