If anyone's still watching -- and judging by the comments last week, it sounds like most of you have given up -- feel free to talk about the third episode of "Tell Me You Love Me" here.
The only thing I have to say is that it's a shame people aren't watching Ally Walker. The final scene on the bed with Katie/David when she asked him the question was so painful and telling. Walker really is doing the best acting of her career. It's just unfortunate that the show is getting progressively worse. She's the only thing keeping me tuned in.
This is a comment saying that I am watching the show (though I like the idea of waiting a couple weeks and then knocking out two or three at once On-Demand).
I like it, but it doesn't lend itself to discussion very easily.
What is there to say? Hugo is an asshole? Check.
I tend to find myself wanting to get back to the Katie/David story as the basis of their relationship seems the most solid, thus making the sex problem all the more difficult to deal with.
Hugo, though: asshole.
Alan, any idea how the series is doing in terms of viewers? (obviously HBO isn't as concerned with Nielsen numbers as a network, but...)
I'm watching it, and actually "enjoying" it. I like any television that is realistic and makes me feel something, even if it's not a good something. This show is rife with emotion, and they don't try to cheapen it all, which, even though it's an odd word for such a series, I find refreshing.
There's only so much you can take of the TV fantasy world where everyone's happy and beautiful.
It's not getting raved about in blogs. It's not just about graphic (i.e. balls) sex scenes.
It's about four couples and their all-too-real life ups and downs. It's about being self-centered and lost in breakups, it's about loving but not sexing, and it's about trying to have babies when the pressure takes all the fun and success out of it.
In other words, it's dark. And I love dark.
I agree with the Ally Walker comment above. Her range, especially last night, was phenomenal.
The show is slow, but it's unique. I'll keep watching it until it gets canceled. It's like watching what's really happening to all my friends, and me, right now, too. So it's got that goin' for it, which is nice.
I agree that the Katie/David story arc is the only one that is interesting to watch. Jamie is whiny and annoying and Hugo is a total jerk. What's-her- name who can't get pregnant is TOTALLY unlikeable. When that actress was on The Mind of a Married Man, she was also bitchy. I can't figure out if it's the actress or the character I don't like. Either way, I only watch On Demand so I can fast forward thru a lot of it.
Anybody know the name of the song that is playing at the strip club?

The song was Isaac Hayes' version of "Walk on By". It's from his "Hot Buttered Soul" LP.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great song. However, did anyone happen to notice that this show sucks?
Ugh. This show is not good. When the best sex scenes are from the people old enough to be your grandparents....
ReplyDeleteI'm finding the characters more and more annoying each episode. Hugo is a jerk, his girlfriend has become horribly pathetic.
Katie and David should take a note from Nike and JUST DO IT.
And I'm-so-bitter-because-I-can't-get-pregnant lady needs to seriously unclench.
I think it's telling that I can't, even after 3 episodes, remember most of the characters names.
I've come up with a new title for this show.
ReplyDelete"Boring People (not)Fucking)"
It seems more appropriate.

ReplyDeleteI think it's telling that I can't remember anyone's name. And, the therapy scenes are really, really awful.
ReplyDeleteIts sad when the show's most memorable moment is a "Billy Walsh" cameo.
ReplyDeleteThe rest of the show was boring.
Actually, I think this show might actually be better if it were written and directed by Billy "Queens Blvd" Walsh.
Is that possible?
The song playing at the stip club is actually "2 Wicky" by Hoover. It samples Isacc Hayes' "Walk on By"
ReplyDeletedoes anyone know the name of the song at the end of episode 3?
