I know Sarah Silverman is an acquired taste, but I think
this video from last night's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" -- part birthday message to her fella, part riff on Kimmel's old "Matt Damon, we're sorry we ran out of time" running gag -- is pretty damn brilliant.
It's Matt Damon that makes the clip so darn good. I mean, when it breaks into a late 90's-style rap/boy band video? Awesome.
ReplyDeleteGreatest sport. Matt Damon made it brilliant. I laughed hysterically throughout. I loved when he sang and all the 3rd perosn references. Then the rap (!!!), but him twisting on Kimmel at the very end was just the BEST!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for posting that. I am a big Sarah Silverman fan and I loved it. As far as the Jimmy dissing Matt history goes, it was pretty friggin' awesome. The only one I've happened to catch live was the Guillermo Bourne Ultimatum one, and I liked it quite a bit as well. I'm not a huge Jimmy Kimmel fan, but I do like me some Matt Damon gags.

ReplyDeleteI could be wrong, but there seems to be a little bit of an homage to his small role in the awful, but often seen film EuroTrip, where he sings the song "Scotty Doesn't Know," about, well, f*cking the main character's girlfriend (played by Kristin Kreuk).
Of course, when you think about it, the real sport here is Damon's wife, Luciana ;)

ReplyDeleteI stumbled on this last night on Kimmel's show, which I never watch. I've got my issues with Silverman, but -- as others have said -- Matt Damon totally makes this.

I was watching this at work and couldn't stop laughing, especially when the boy band rap started. Silverman can be crass, but everyone once in a while, she hits the mark.

What I would love though is if the Colbert Conan rivalry continues and they appear on each other's show.

ReplyDeletePretty much all the struck late shows, save maybe Conan, seem to have some scab writing going on.
I was wondering about the scab writing myself because the Daily Show doesn't seem very different now from pre-strike, especially when they have the correspondent segments. The Colbert Report seems to have thrown in an extra interview segment, but I wonder when the writers return if there will be any hard feelings because of this.
ReplyDeleteI've also read that the negotiations have been delayed because of the Super Bowl... I really hope that's not true, because come on, there are bigger things here at stake than a football game.
Alan, thanks for the info. I went and watched her interview and I take her at her word that this video was made in October, pre-strike. Makes sense, as it was intended for Kimmel's birthday show (Nov. 13).

I find Sarah Silverman to be a hit-and-miss proposition at best, but I have to say this was genius. Sheer genius. I literally watched it 4 times in a row. I may go back and watch it again.
