- Endless Caruso One-Liners from "CSI: Miami"
- Turk dances to Poison (I can never link to that one enough, can I?)
- Natalie Portman raps (NSFW)
- Gob and Franklin rap (also, George Michael's special tape)
- Cliff Clavin on "Jeopardy!"
- Omar testifying against Bird on "The Wire"
- "Let's Go To the Mall," the full version (also, The Slapsgiving Song)
- Bill Havercuck does The Rerun Dance (and, for more pathos, Bill makes himself a sandwich)
- "Night Man" from "It's Always Sunny" (also, "Day Man")
- One movie scene: the litmus configuration, from "Midnight Run" (also NSFW)

Some YouTube oldies but goodies
Slow afternoon, but at least there's new "Survivor" tonight. In the meantime, links to a small sampling of familiar YouTube (and/or Hulu) clips to cheer you up when the day is treating you rough:
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for posting the original "You Just Got Slapped" song! I had only been able to find the music video. The video is funny as a one-off gag, but I wanted the original. Barney moaning to the music is priceless!
ReplyDeletethanks for this, alan. some great clips here. it made my day, which has been pretty lousy so far.
ReplyDeletehere's an all-time classic tv pick me up: basil fawlty and his car. i had a hard time finding it on youtube. plus, just searching for flight of the conchords guarantees a smile.
Gracias. I can never have enough Turk dances or F&G clips.
ReplyDeleteI love the Night Man / Day Man songs. I am so glad the "Sunny" guys are back for another season..
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I sat through all 7:16 of the Caruso one-liners. They are hypnotic
ReplyDeleteLoved Omar's reference to middle school (where he was presumably a young Michael)! =D
ReplyDeleteany plan to write a retrospective review of in treatment?
ReplyDeleteFrom Ricky Gervais' podcasts:

I also recommend his blog trying to embarass his friend into doing more podcasts: http://rickygervais.com/chimpanzee_karl.php
Who knew Ricky could pull off comedy, too?
Upon re-watching, I think as a stand-alone I actually like "You Just Got Slapped" better than "Let's Go To The Mall". I never really thought that it was as good, but in re-watching, I REALLY underrated that song.
ReplyDelete"You cut me off mid-funk."
ReplyDeleteYou got some good Freaks and Geeks clips, and you got a good Jason Segal song on the piano, but you missed this gem:

Millie was my favorite.
So I found Jason Segal and NPH singing the confrontation song from Les Mis on the Megan Lullaly song. Hilarious

Those Caruso clips are classic -- we make fun of them all the time, with his glasses and his overacting...love it! I actually think he copied the late and amazing Jerry Orbach when he did Law and Order. He would have these dumb one liners at the beginning of each show also -- they were definitely dumb, but not as cheesy and slimy as Caruso!
ReplyDeleteOh, I second the NPH-Segal "Les Mis" song...that made me almost cry with laughter.
ReplyDeleteSo I found Jason Segal and NPH singing the confrontation song from Les Mis on the Megan Lullaly song. Hilarious
ReplyDeleteTo quote Chris Farley :
"I've seen a lot of things in my life, but that.... was.... AWESOME."
More proof Jason Segel has absolutely no ego or shame.
Not to quote Dr. Cox too much, but Jason Segel always plays his roles with such wonderful commitment, it's impossible not to love him.
ReplyDeleteLurv the David Caruso cheese!
ReplyDeleteI point to presidential candidate Mike Gravel's cover of the Beatles' "Helter Skelter"... BAM!
Great choices.
ReplyDeleteBut I must add the Therapy Scene from 30 Rock:

"The honkies shot me!"
Still cracks me up every single time.
That 30 Rock link got cut off -- this one might work better:

This one with Hugh Laurie never fails to crack me up:

Another Hugh Laurie/Blackadder moment of brilliance.

This isn't slapsticky, nor is it really old I guess, but it is one of the best moments on TV EVAH: Lorelai singing "I Will Always Love You" to Luke on Gilmore Girls. http://youtube.com/watch?v=5un-amzDMkU
ReplyDeleteGreat collection of clips, Alan! I, too, can watch Turk do the dance all day. Although The Todd is a pretty strong opening act.
