ReplyDeleteAndrew, I think I was converted by the posters in the West Baltimore vs. West Beverly thread. It's not token casting; he's the lead.
I wish nothing but success for Tristan and Jessica Walter, but my mind might explode the first time Michael Lee and Lucille Bluth are on screen together in a show about West Beverly High School.

ReplyDeleteI'm bummed about "Aliens in America" - a smart, funny family sitcom that probably would have done well if it'd been part of a sitcom block on a bigger network (if such a thing still existed beyond the excellent NBC Thursday and CBS's Monday of HIMYM plus shows watched by no one I know). AiA paired well with the similarly overlooked "Everybody Hates Chris" - too bad there doesn't seem to be an audience for that type of show anymore.
ReplyDeleteAlan, any idea how many episodes Smallville got picked up for? Or why the official press release lists Kristin Kreuk as a cast member when she's supposedly leaving, but doesn't list Allison Mack?

ReplyDeleteAnd I'm really happy for Wilds. He's been given what David Simon wanted for all the other amazing African-American actors from The Wire -- a chance to do good work. 90210 might not be close to The Wire in quality, but it's work. Wilds will get a chance to grow even more as a young actor. I think that's great.
Smallville should have ended this year, and not because KK or AM may not return. Michael Rosenbaum was one of the best things about that show, as well as the CK and LL interaction and the whole point of the show will be missing with him gone, or only with guest appearances.

Come to think of it, Michael Hogan (Tigh) would make one heck of a Dean of Boys or PE teacher.
Does anyone know what happened to Good Behavior, which was fully cast and Rob Thomas chose over 90210?? I thought it was a lock for a pickup yet ive heard nothing about it being dropped or picked up
ReplyDeleteAccording to Ausiello at TV Guide, Allison Mack tried to get a big raise after Michael Rosenblum announced he was leaving, and the producers called her bluff. So there's one less show for me to watch.

ReplyDeleteAs mentioned in the article, none of ABC's pilots have been shot yet, so all those shows (including Good Behavior and Cupid) will be in contention for midseason.
I'm not happy that Michael ditched Bug only to move to Beverly Hills.

Update rumor on Good Behavior-- is that it tested to mixed reviews and they are deciding whether to reshoot and retool it or let it go. But they let go of the parents and kept the kids. So Patrick Adams, Mae Whitman and Stephanie Lemelin are all still on hold for the series.
