Sepinwall on TV: 'Burn Notice' brings summer heat to a winter's night
In today's column, I check in on "Burn Notice" as the second season resumes tonight, a little heavier for the winter months but still inescapably "Burn Notice"-y. I should have an episode review ready to go by 11.
I'm so excited!! Michael is also better at getting me amped than Jack Bauer at this point. USA has been promoting this like crazy, and I've been patiently counting the days while I watch NCIS and House re-runs. Is it safe to assume that the crazy operative Carla made Michael work with (Michael Shanks or something played him) will be back? He was interesting
"Violence perceived is violence achieved," he voiceovers as he casually cuts his own thumb to get answers out of a squirming captive.
Alan, it was Sam who cut his own thumb, then dripped the blood over Todd the Enforcer's head. Not Michael.
A terrific episode, and you caught all the good points. Michael screaming at Carla was indeed unsettling. So was his fight with Sam. So was the end of Fiona's relationship with Campbell, even though it wasn't a new twist on the old story.

ReplyDeleteShanks isn't in either of the two episodes I've seen, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's gone from the show.
ReplyDeleteSweet thundering Jeebus, someone please give Gabrielle Anwar a cheeseburger, and explain to her how to eat it.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for this. I caught a few eps during the marathon and remember how much I enjoy this show.
ReplyDeletewhy would anyone want to mess with anwars body???
ReplyDeleteget a grip
Ooooh I had forgotten about it, and now can't wait.
ReplyDeleteIt is funny how some shows with apparently modest ambitions (Burn Notice, Chuck...) are currently some of the best on television.
Anwar's hot, but getting a grip would be hard with that slight build...
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you, I'll be here all post

I love this show so much.
