On the subject of 'Reaper'

I realize I haven't written about the last couple of episodes of "Reaper." I watched last week's show in the middle of a very busy week where I simply never found the time to write about it, and I have yet to see this week's, in part because the CW's website isn't streaming it yet and the only time I have to watch it is when I'm in the office.

But for the benefit of the people who've been keeping up more closely, feel free to discuss either one, and go read Fienberg's argument for why the CW might want to renew "Reaper," after all.

  1. Putting aside the always troublesome "inside sources" report that the series is gone, the news that Tara Butters and Michelle Fazekas signed a 2-year deal with 20th Century Fox, and that Tyler Labine got the lead in the FOX pilot Sons of Tucson, seems to signal that even folks involved are moving on.

As such, wouldn't any discussion of why The CW would bring back Reaper be more of a hypothetical exercise than a real choice for the network?

The picture of the cast walking through a graveyard is certainly an appropriate choice.

  2. @Drake: Agreed. The better question is, why did they bother bringing it back in the first place, when they clearly didn't have any intention of giving it a chance. "Hey, let's put it next to American Idol in the slot that killed 90210 a couple of weeks before the original scheduled start date with minimal advertising and see if anybody bothers to tune in!" Bleh.

  3. The Devil outdid himself this past ep in terms of his magnificent bastardness. They can't cancel this show--I need my weekly dose of Ray Wise!

  4. I really like it. Sock has gotten more than a bit annoying, but the show is still overall a joy.

    A bummer if it goes.

  5. I didn't like last week's episode much, but thought this week's was much better. Loved Sock's video for why Vatican City would be a fun place to live, the Morgan/Sam rivalry, and Ben breaking up with Nina and her vowing to get revenge. And the Devil was charming and devious as always. Won't die if its cancelled, but it is an amusing (mostly) hour of TV.

  6. Hey some of us fans are still fighting for Reaper. Even if it is a pointless exercise. I wonder, too, what does it take to get a show picked up by another network?

  7. Reaper has gotten pushed to a 10:30 p.m. time slot in Chicago 3 times since it came back this year. If we didn't have a DVR we'd never get to see it. My kids & I all love it & watch together. We'd love to see it (and Chuck) back!

  8. I really want this show to survive. There are so many unanswered questions! It's finally developing a deeper mythology - and how kick-ass was Sam this week? awesome.
The show is finally getting really excellent and they want to end it?
