I always thought the Oprah show was a brilliant bit of marketing: taking an essentially vapid program and selling it (successfully, for the most part) as intellectually stimulating.
I'll be interested to see how this venture fares. Oprah has already tried cable TV with the Oxygen Channel, and I'm not sure it set any records. As I recall, NBC got it for a song a few years ago. She's partnering up with Discovery this time, but it has a mixed track record itself as of late.
"Scary," Karen? You don't get out enough. The average discussion on imdb has more bile in it.
Nice Star Wars reference at the end there, Alan.
ReplyDeleteWow, there are some scary comments over there at nj.com....

ReplyDeleteYes, I've learned to avoid reading the comments at just about any newspaper online. They seem to particularly attract the crazies.
And Alan I too like the "snitting next to Borpoh" line.
It never fails: NJ.com commenters are insane! Have you decided it's just not worth the time to monitor them the way you do us?
