A friend of mine predicted several "Dateline" hours. He'll be disappointed to see there are only two nights (3 hrs).

ReplyDeleteNew idea: strip Sunday Night Football, play one quarter each night Monday-Thursday. Friday: an hour of cheerleaders.
ReplyDeletePlease tell me Heroes is getting canceled so I can stop watching that mess. That show is like a horrific car wreck that I can't turn away from.
ReplyDeleteHeroes was always scheduled to have its season finale on February 8. On any other network it would be a goner, but I'm pretty confident that NBC will be hanging onto it. Sadly, even though its audience is like 3/4 less than it used to be it's still one of their more highly rated shows.
ReplyDeleteTwo good things for me. FNL and Who Do You Think You Are. I thought NBC had given up on the show. I've seen a few of the BBC episodes and always liked them. (Although, I think the show would be more appropriate on PBS or cable and won't get much traction on network TV).
ReplyDeleteTMZ is reporting that Conan is out and that Jay's been given the Tonight Show back since moving Jay's 10 p.m. show to 11:35 is a breach of his contract. His bitching about Conan last night seems especially petty now.

ReplyDelete@Ben, NBC sometimes schedules "Monk" repeats on Sunday nights as filler, so it's possible. But as others have mentioned here in the various NBC-related threads, it's unlikely because the cable shows, for the most part, don't "fit" with NBC's mainstream shows.
ReplyDeleteAlan - can NBC pull over any of the USA network shows to fill in the gap? Even if only as a repeats, seems that would make some sense, both as a way to show something other than Law and Order (which is exactly what some of the cable networks do anyway) and to help promote the cable shows.

Dez - thanks for responding...i figure its a long shot, but wouldn't say "Psych", with its Pop Culture tilt be a great fit behind Chuck? Wouldn't, well, any of the shows, be it White Collar or Burn Notice be better than consecutive episodes of Law and Order SVU? To be fair, I don't watch Burn Notice so maybe it not network friendly, but the others are...
So that's it, then. NBC has made its choice. Boo.

ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who's sick of all the "Law & Order"s? They've gotten predictable and preachy, and the "ripped from the headlines" plots are less interesting than the actual headlines. Even the better episodes seem tired after the zillion hours we've already seen. (On the plus side, that means there's a half-dozen hours of prime time I don't have to worry about missing.)
ReplyDeleteBigTed, I'm getting tired of "Law and Order" too, though I've been watching since the start and I basically like the show. I agree it's gotten preachy, and the episodes based on current technology/trends (like Facebook and such) have been laughable.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, I agree that "Heroes" has been weak sauce ever since (IMO) the season 1 finale. I think the show peaked with "Company Man" and has been on the (steep) decline ever since. I gave up on watching it last season.
Wow. Kimmel on Leno could be some of the most awkward tv yet.
ReplyDeleteNBC needs to move Chuck from the Monday Night Pile-up. Making me choose between 24, HIMYM, and Chuck is just cruel! But I guess repeats of Law & Order are important. I dunno.
