Don Draper: The greatest criminal mind of our age?

Okay, I mentioned this on my Twitter feed, but this one's too good not to link to here for the many of you ain't into Tweets: Jon Hamm on Funny or Die as Lex Luthor. As if my love of the man wasn't already raging out of control.

  1. I kept waiting for the skullcap to come apart. Surely that was supposed to look that bad.

  2. It hardly seems fair for one guy to possess that much awesome...

  3. Jon Hamm makes my LIFE!

  4. This is a better use of funny Jon Hamm than what 30 Rock has done so far. Speaking of which, when is his next episode?

  5. Man, and this guy used to be on "The Division." So glad AMC found him

  6. HA!

But that really IS the worst bald-cap in the world.

  7. I imagine Hamm was on set for, like, 20 minutes in between three other things, as most Funny/Die big-name actors do, so there wasn't much time to work on a more convincing bald cap.

And is there any way this guy shouldn't be playing Green Lantern? How the hell can you think of some kid like Anton Yelchin when there's a man here who was born to play Hal Jordan?

  9. BTW, speaking of Mad Men (sorta), have you seen Meshugene Men? Good stuff.

  10. The funny thing about Funny or Die is that, like most made-for-net video stuff, its content is pretty much 100% Die-level funny.

I'm going to assume Hamm is some friend's uncle and did this as a favor, or maybe as community service.

  12. not quite as great as "Don Draper's guide to picking up women" but pretty darn close.

I do love me some Jon Hamm.

  13. I like the idea of Hamm playing a more obscure hero that they can retool. Simmons idea for a Plastic Man works for that.

  14. My love for Jon Hamm only increases with each new thing he does. This is perfect, even with the terrible skullcap!

  15. True story: My sister is a lifelong, dedicated lesbian. Been with her partner for like 15 years now. they have 4 small kids together. anyway, tey were coming home to visit last summer her in StL (hometown of Mr. Hamm) and they met him at the airport. Five minutes later, my sister was ready to have his baby.

the guy is th definition of awsome.

  16. I don't know, but I just didn't find that too be that great. I didn't laugh until he realized how dumb his plan was. But, the purposely horrible skullcap was pretty amusing.

  17. The clip was mildly amusing, nothing more. However, I found the rapper parody clip "Show Me Your Genitals" (Jon Lajoie) to be hilarious!

  18. What I loved was that he appeared to be doing "Don Draper" doing Lex Luthor.

Can't want for Mad Men to come back!

  19. I thought it was fantastic. Jon Hamm does smarmy a-hole so very well. I thought he was brilliant on SNL. I don't keep up with Funny or Die, but when i see things on it, it's consistently pretty funny.

The bad skull cap just added to the amusement.

  21. There's an ESPN Radio interview with Hamm in which the interviewer straight-out asks, "why isn't this guy playing Plastic Man"? The interview didn't mention the Funny or Die piece, but it's interesting how the only place a funny *and* good-looking actor has as a natural niche is either fangirl chick flicks, or fanboy superhero movies.

The interviewer and Hamm are good friends, so I'm thinking Mr. Hamm has a few irons in the fire to monetize that punim into fanboy and fangirl dollars. Check Basket of Kisses for the link.
