In this summer dead zone, it's nice to have original "Better Off Ted" episodes around, albeit sporadically (next week is a rerun of the one where Phil and Lem accidentally drug Linda). Last night's episode was a good showcase for the whole cast, plus it brought in Joy Osmanski from "The Loop" as Lem's statistically average love interest, plus it had funny jokes like Phil's abbreviation for "acid interface." Good times.
What did everybody else think?
Is this the place where we can say AssGoo without any repercussions?
ReplyDeleteIf not, I can just go back to saying cat penis.
Assgoo?
ReplyDeleteIt was "assface"
AssGoo was the first one, AssFace was the second.
ReplyDeleteAssGoo was what the doctor called the 'leakage'. AssFace was Phil's interface name.
ReplyDeleteLem asking for $12 for the drycleaning without skipping a beat was all kinds of awesome.
I loved the Len/Lucy stuff, especially the initial flirtation and the kiss/sneeze/headwound.
ReplyDeleteI wish ABC (or whoever produces the show) was better about posting the fake Veridian commercials online. VeridianDynamics.com has a few, but not many, and I'm dying to send the "bosses" one from last week to my boss(es).
ReplyDeleteFunniest episode so far. Was cracking up nearly the entire time. The AssGoo, the biohazard sealing, the end of Lem and Lucy's date, Linda moving into Ted's office because of Wallace, the weird food taster; Linda's name for her fish and his relationship with the diver; Ted and Linda singing about her report not being ready; Ted moving into Veronica's office then leaving her office because she uses the Robert de Niro-in-Analyze-That way of therapy through gunshots. Everything about the episode made me smile.
ReplyDeleteDid Ted look unnaturally tan to anyone else? His glow distracted me a smidge. Otherwise, I loved this ep, "buttless co-workers" and all :-D
ReplyDeleteThis episode was just about as funny as "Racial Sensitivity," which is to say, as funny as TV can get. And unlike RS, this one had a Linda-Ted-frustrated-romance subplot that was actually quick and funny. Which may give it the edge in the end.
ReplyDeleteLem may be becoming my favorite character on TV. He's just so totally individual; I can't think of anyone else with quite his combination of characteristics.
"That exquisite creature... is stealing my girlfriend."
I don't know if this was as good as Racial Sensitivity, but it is definitely up there.
ReplyDeleteWait, I just hit 15 minutes...
"Ted, you're a guest. I can't have you flinching every time I shoot a gun in here."
Okay, this is one of the greats.
I actually wondered aloud, "How does Phil even have a wife?" while Lem was going through his difficulties with Lucy (I loved Lem's line: "Oh, my God. I just emptied the stomach of the woman I love.")
ReplyDeleteHilarious that Phil can't read women or men. And I loved his panicked "Oh, God" reaction to Ted's demand that he fix whatever's wrong with Bhamba's "Johnny."
I love this show & am so glad it's got new ep's this summer! Bummer about the sporadic schedule though as I missed the first summer episode the other week because I wasn't aware it was new. :(
ReplyDeleteLast night's ep was hilarious and I LOVE Joy Osmanski so that was the frosting on the cake!
Hope she's back for more episodes!
This was the first episode I saw. I liked it so much that it lead to a Ted bender and I watched every episode last night.
ReplyDeleteTwo lines that killed me: "you need to grow a pair" and "I wasn't the only one affected by the goo coming out of dr bomba's johnny" (Johnny is English slang for a condom)
This one made me laugh aloud several times, which seldom happens with sitcoms these days. Plus, I enjoyed the Lem/Lucy flirtation, whereas his overly-mannered style usually annoys me. For all that, it's a huge winner in my book.
ReplyDeletethis show is absolutely hilarious...bad title though...Better Off Ted...it should be called Meridian Dynamics
ReplyDeleteSmiled throughout, but the whole exchange between Ted and Linda about her butt filling up his staring space had me laughing out loud - and that's hard to do watching it alone.
ReplyDeleteBest new comedy of the year! Fall contenders need not apply....
I loved last night's episode.
ReplyDeleteI hate to be a downer, but... ratings for last night's episode were bad (1.78 million viewers). I mean it could be a historical low for ABC in the Tuesday 9:30 pm timeslot... EVER.
I know it has been renewed but I wonder if that decision could be changed.
Will said...

I'm not sure these abbreviations are worth the time they're saving!
Who puts a sitcom on at 9:30? Madness!
