'Better Off Ted' returns - Sepinwall on TV
In today's column, I talk about how happy (and yet slightly puzzled) I am about tomorrow's return of "Better Off Ted" with original episodes.

Thank you, Allen for informing us of this great news. I think "Better of Ted" is the best sitcom on TV, even better than "30 Rocks". It deserves to get more audience and hope ABC shows more patience with it. They should remember that even "Seinfeld" took more than a season to get a respectable audience.
Whoa! Spoiler warning, Alan! You start off about Ted's runoff airing. But is the last half of the article describing the plot of tomorrow's episode? I stopped reading at that point.
Ted's back? That's awesome!
I could not be happier that "Better Off Ted" is coming back. My great admiration for this show, along with the talents of Victor Fresco, caused me to also seek out and enjoy, after BOT's spring run, "Andy Richter Controls the Universe," which I found to be even better than BOT (but that's in no way a sleight on the latter) and a joy in its own right. I'd heartily recommend it to anyone who hasn't already seen it.
I also agree that BOT was better than the "30 Rock" counterparts airing during the same stretch, although I still wouldn't say it's the best sitcom overall on TV. (I would say third, behind "30 Rock" and "Party Down," and just ahead of "The Office.") But the only way to find out if it's truly good is with more episodes! Let's not screw this one up, ABC/viewing public!
1) Is it possible they're doing it to beat a DVD release? I know it makes more sense to release a collected DVD set right before the new season -- PR for the DVDs, and the DVDs' shelf presence both work as PR for the show overall -- but if the set's due to come out in the fall so the production co can recoup some $, then ABC would have to burn off the extras before then.
2) Yay.
There's more Ted?? That's fantastic news!!
A few weeks ago I was watching a replay of "Ellen" in which she interviewed Portia (de Gene-rossi?). I was really funny, but the relevant bit was: they showed a clip of Portia's "new" show. The clip showed Portia as a magician's assitant (I'm assuming an inside wink at Arrested Development).
At the time I just thought, "Man, I would love to see that!". Now, I'm wondering if it is in tomorrow night's ep or another one.
I'm so glad this show is back (and back on!)
Yippee! Now I just hope I remember that it's on (been biffing on DVR-ing shows a lot lately) :-D
