Thoughts on part one of Idol Gives Back are up at NJ.com, but you can comment about it here.

Yes, thank you, I much preferred Jordan Unga's version of "Imagine" to Blake's. I also liked Jordin but didn't think she was as great as Randy was proclaiming.
That said, I still have an inexplicable soft spot for Chris. I think it's because he used to be a bigger guy, and he moves sometimes as if he still is. I find it endearing.
"You'll Never Walk Alone" doesn't make me think of anything but The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
How the heck do they handle the results tomorrow? (Tell me, because I won't be watching.) It will be 115 minutes of lift-up-everyone open-your-pocketbook inspirational stuff... then *boom* X gets voted off the island?
I only was able to see one performance tonight... Jordin's. Yeah, it was overpraised. It didn't come close to "I Who Have Nothing" as Jordin's personal best.
And though she's no Jerry Lewis, I did admire her ability to sell the song tonight. Like an actor, she pulls up genuine emotions.
I think Jordin is going to win this now. It's wasn't the best ever Idol performance, but it was still pretty good and much more emotionally relevant than anyone else. Melinda is a good singer, but I think that she just doesn't connect with an audience as much as Jordin does, especially when in top form.
An I too can't wait for another Rockstar, because they get better songs to sing and anyone is an actual musician (even the crazy Spanish chick who was in no way a rocker) is fine by me.
When I was ready to declare Blake's singing "Imagine" as the stupidest move ever, there came LaKisha singing another Idol's song after last week's debacle. I mean, oh my God, those "Pink Panther" movies with the ultra-stupid inspector Clouseau surviving everything that came his way simply because he was lucky? Yeah.
I think LaKisha has overstayed her welcome. She does not seem to be happy out there on stage...it looks like work now. Not fun to watch her. And her singing hasn't been nearly as good as in the past.
Blake is still the robot-man, but he seems to have some bizarro fan base, so he'll probably stick around for another few weeks.
I like Chris, too. He is a likeable guy...kind of the underdog that you just have to root for. He did all right. Not great, but all right. Good song choice, too.
I somehow became a Phil fan this week. He really seemed to be having an emotional reaction to his song. Something that had been missing from most of his other performances.
I too loved Jordis' rendition of "Imagine." It's my contention that the song only works when the singer sings it, not as an anthem of hope ("Gee, wouldn't in be great, if!"), but as a sad, almost despairing song ("We can imagine all we want, but you and I know it ain't gonna happen."
As for RockStar, given that we haven't heard a word about a new season, and that we have heard plenty about other summer stuff, I'm assuming it's not coming back. Would love to be wrong.

Alan - Can you please tell us if Rockstar is coming back this summer? That show is so much better than Idol...especially this year's batch!

Ah, Zayra, the proto-Sanjaya! Good times.

Know I'm late to the oart, but two thoughts:
