Judging the new 'Idol' judge, 'Gavin & Stacey' review

Today's column has a recap of the snooze-inducing conference call with new "American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi, plus a brief review of the BBC America comedy "Gavin & Stacey" (pictured above), which I've had to try very hard to not refer to as "Ned & Stacey."

Any sense as to which past performers DioGuardia thought were overrated/underrated?

She did mention that her favorite Idol ever was Kelly (I know; not going out on a limb on that one) and that Brooke was one of her favorites last season (more interesting, and spoke to her theory that she wants more unique singers, as opposed to someone who can just belt out Randy-approved runs).

hey alan,
not to be a nitpicker...but, the character that gives stacy the rape alarm is her uncle...played by the brillant Rob Brydon.

I'll be watching my DVR of the show when I get home from work in the morning. But having seen Brydon in "Supernova" earlier this year on Ch. 21, I can hear him saying that line, and I can't help but smile - He's got a great delivery!

Mat Horne! I love Mat Horne. That show sounds right up my alley too, and I need a new (British) show to watch.
