Sepinwall on TV: 'A Raisin in the Sun' review

The other column I wrote before I went on vacation: a review of ABC's "A Raisin in the Sun" remake, headlined by Diddy, but highlighted by Phylicia Rashad, Audra McDonald and Sanaa Lathan.

Hello Alan, Boy, looks like I'm the only one here. It hadn't registered exactly when "Raisin" was on, but when I happily stumbled upon it I watched based on your recommendation (I also always loved the play.) I agree with all your points. I thought all three women were wonderful. And I also thought Combs held his own, surprisingly well. It seemed like a more subdued adaptation than previous ones, but I felt it worked, and I always love to see different interpretations of the same source material. It would be great if networks did this more often. With established and newer playwrights. Thanks for the recommendation.

The women were terrific-- they oughta go ahead and engrave Phylicia Rashad's name on the Emmy right now. "Diddy" did a better job than I thought he would.
