Press tour notebook: Renewals, mustaches and more

Before yesterday's latest turn in the Conan O'Brien mess, I wrote a notebook column on some press tour developments and anecdotes, which is now up on NJ.com.

I'll have a longer post or column about Nick Offerman as Ron F'ing Swanson (the funniest character on television right now) sometime after I'm back from tour. We talked for quite a while about the 'stache, breakfast foods and more.

I am far less concerned about Bradley Whitford's mustache, than I am about his unnatural orange color. Please tell me that's at least partially a result of bad lighting?

Whitford isn't going to be starring in an Oompa Loompa cop show?

The funniest character on tv right now: Veronica Palmer. Like children, she has so many uses.

Bad lighting. I played with the levels and came closer to an approximation of what he looked like on stage.

I've got no beef with Veronica, but nothing she's done this year has made me laugh as much as Ron's shoeshine or his speech about breakfast foods.

Is Flash Forward coming back the 14th (a Sunday) or the 18th (a Thursday?) Also, have they cut back on the number of episodes? At one point they were planning to do 24, but now some places are indicating they're just doing 22.

18th. 14 was a typo, since fixed.

I thought B-Whit was going to be in a buddy cop show with Romany Malco. But I guess that fizzled out. Bummer. I mean, it's not like I need to add a cop show to my rotation or anything. But I DO need Romany Malco back in my rotation.

I hate to break it to David Goyer, but the chances have always been much better that Flashforward's big reveal episode ends up airing in the summer than on April 29th.

Wow. That's a nasty sentiment on my part. But then again, Flashforward is a pretty nasty show.

Offerman makes me wish "American Body Shop" was out on DVD. He was hilarious on that show.

I was going to post about American Body Shop too. If you can find it, its worth a look for some classic Offerman antics. The rest of the cast is solid as well, but Offerman steals the show just like on Parks And Recreation.
I'm glad to read that The Middle was renewed as well Alan, even if I sometimes fell like the only person in the world who follows that show.

Can't wait for the Offerman post. I agree, he's the funniest thing on TV right now.
