'Party Down' season two review: Sepinwall on TV

In today's column, I review "Party Down" season two, and talk about the bittersweet nature of watching a show that's so funny, knowing that one of the main reasons for that (Adam Scott) won't be back full-time if there's another season.

I'll have a short review of the premiere up tonight at 10:30.

SOunds like it's going to make me appreciate Jane Lynch's performance more. I'm going to miss her constantly referencing diggleberries, which I sort of regretted looking up.

Just watched it over at Netflix. Great ep. If this is "starting off slow," then we're in for a good ride.

I caught it last night on DirecTV.

As olucy said, if this is the "slow start" this season is going to be terrific.

I thought it was pretty darn good, considering it's a getting-the-band-back-together ep, which usually doesn't fare well. Unless you're The Wire.

And Mullally didn't channel Karen Walker, which is a huge relief.

It's also up at Starz for the impatient people who don't have Netflix.

I dunno. I kind of agree about the slow start. I really like these characters a lot, but I don't really feel like I laughed as much as I remember laughing last season. Still, it's great to have this show back!

Yeah, this first ep very consciously had the feeling of settling back in. Always good to see Lyle the Intern, though (and he has the ep's best line, I thought).

But I just recently watched all of season one (a friend and I burned through it in just two sittings) and am still on a high from that. Such a good show.

Watched the first ep on the Starz website and thought it was terrific. Going back there today to watch the Guttenberg BD bash.

I liked PD from the start of S1, but I recalled it taking a few episodes to really kick in, and by midway through S1 they were really cooking.

Same thing happened this season -- if anything, I enjoyed the characters from the word go, having gotten invested in them last season. So it was a satisfying start to the season, but by the time of the Gute episode, they really hit their stride. Some really, really fun stuff in the second half of the season. And as Alan says, Megan M's character becomes better integrated into the group later in the season.

This is a show that lends itself to repeat watching, which is not something you can say about a lot of comedies.

Will Starz have them all online, or just the first two? Also, how many eps this season? Thanks!

Just watched the first one online and I liked it. Going to watch the second as soon as The Ricky Gervais Show is over.
