HBO's "Boardwalk Empire" trailer unveiled

Over at NJ.com, I've embedded video of the trailer to HBO's "Boardwalk Empire." To quote Poniewozik, "On the one hand: anything can look good in a trailer. OTOH: Jesus!"

I'm not completely sold, but it does look tasty.

Ever since The Wire ended I haven't had much interest in dramatic TV, but boy, between this and Treme, HBO you have my money all over again!

I saw this on Sunday just before The Pacific, and I'd have to say I agree wholeheartedly with Poniewozik.

The lone two lines of dialogue in this trailer need to be added to the Constitution.

This looks too good to fail.

Holy camoly. That looks AMAZING.

Buscemi's "This is America, ain't it? Who the fuck's stoppin' ya?" had the same drag-me-in quality of The Wire's pilot cold open: "This America, man. Got to."

I don't have HBO but I could completely see buying this episode by episode on iTunes.

Steve Buscemi should be sufficiently awesome in this show. Not the first time he's worked with Terence Winter (Sopranos) either, which should help. I agree with Brian, between this and Treme, HBO is on the up and up. Alan, are there any Treme trailers/previews out other than the one with all music and instruments lying throughout New Orleans but no real insight as to what the show will be?

With The Pacific, Treme and Boardwalk Empire, HBO convinced me to subscribe and continue the subscription for a while.

Oh la. Ya, I'll be watching that one.

Omar, Cool Lester Smooth, and the Bunk are all coming back to TV? Probably shouldn't be this excited for TV shows, but omgomgomg,

I'm probably in a minority of one, but I'm really hoping this uses period-appropriate music--I can't stand it when TV focusing on a different era uses modern music (especially rock). It really ruins my suspension of disbelief. And don't get me wrong, I love rock music.

Dudley's Mom-

Well, Scorsese is involved so I'm pretty sure the soundtrack will consist entirely of Cream and The Rolling Stones.

Alan,

Any idea how large of a role M.K. William has in "Boardwalk Empire? Is he considered part of the regular cast?
