Sepinwall on TV: Leno undercover, 'Office' non-spin-off

That man, boys and girls, is Jay Leno, who tried to one-up Jimmy Kimmel's undercover reporter gag from last week by badgering Ben Silverman and Marc Graboff about it during their press tour session. You can read all about it over at NJ.com.

There's also some stuff in there with Silverman talking about the Amy Poehler show, which will not be an "Office" spin-off, at the same time he was talking about how he plans to still do an "Office" spin-off, and the words come out of his mouth with such rapidity that I have no idea whether any of it is true or if it's just the first thought to come into his head at that moment.

They're STILL talking about The Office spin-off?? Why? No one thinks it's a good idea and even the creators can't come up with a good premise. Just let it die already.

Wow, Leno certainly one upped Kimmel in the costume department....

So Leno took a joke from somebody and made it less funny?

That sounds about right.

NBC's ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory continues to delight and amaze...

I can't wait for Bill Carter's "The Late Shift 2: Electric Boogaloo."

I'm gonna guess that was more of Leno being told what to do by NBC than Leno coming up with that all on his own. Not that I have any high hopes for any good "Leno skewers Kimmel" material, but that bit just screams "Ben Silverman thought this would be clever!!!"

You are probably right amysusanne and that is one of the many problems with Leno. As a frat boy might say "grow a pair" Jay. He's always seemed like he was all too happy to shill for the network.

There once was a Jay Leno so shifty and self-interested that he spied on an GE conference call in order to save his job much like Huck Finn at his own funeral. What happened to that guy?

^He was neutered, I believe.
