Put that video game away! Chuck is coming back in January!

Still more awesome premiere date news: "Chuck" will be coming back ahead of schedule, debuting with back to back episodes on Sunday, January 10 from 9-11, then airing a third episode in its new/old regular timeslot, Mondays at 8, on Jan. 11.

Still no word on whether there will be additional episodes beyond the 13 ordered, as has been rumored (rumors are floating that NBC may be ordering additional eps of "Trauma," which may complicate things), and obviously the season will be disrupted by the Winter Olympics. But Operation Bartowski is about to resume. Enjoy.

UPDATE: Was just told by NBC that they did, in fact, order six episodes past the initial 13. So we'll get 19 episodes total. Nice!

If they plan to blow off 3 episodes in 2 days, I would hope they order more.

Yay! Mostly. They need to start advertising. And this only gives me 5 days to re-rewatch Season 2.

Just updated the post. They did order six more, bringing the total to 19. I will try to talk to Fedak or Schwartz in the next couple of days to find out how they intend to handle this.

Wow! This has turned into an exciting night. 75 days to Lost seems more manageable with Chuck stuck in the middle.

Between this and the Lost announcement my day has improved considerably! I never thought I'd be so anxious for the holidays to be over and done with!

Err, this was already covered when the additional episodes were announced a couple weeks ago.

The existing 13 episodes were too far along to wedge 6 episodes into the arc, so these 6 essentially serve as a bonus mini-season.

This will, of course, cause flow issues, e.g. the big-climatic-finale-that-isn't airs in April, but the guys have enough leadtime to edit things slightly to mitigate this.

This is like early Christmas. A Lost premiere date, an early Chuck premiere date AND confirmation of the additional 6 eps? Flawless win for quality TV!

so, when and how did this news get released? (I don't doubt it this time, unlike last time, but I'm curious. It had been going on for a while before I heard it)

Fedak speaks on the premiere date, and how the extra six episodes will work.

They DID start advertising! Saw a Chuck add during The Office tonight.

oh good! that's like their hit *show* (this is a play on "medley of their hit")

I only DVRed 30 Rock (their Emmy show). No promo there.

They are already advertising it and the promo looks awesome. So, looks like NBC is committed to making sure people know about the show and are doing it with good promos (most of the CHUCK promos have been rather lame in the past).

Chuck Season 3 Promo for those who haven't seen it.

(Actual new scenes! Not really anything spoiler-ish except for brand new viewers)

I was hoping to be able to watch Season 2 on DVD before Season 3 started, but it looks like the Season 2 DVDs aren't coming out until January. Does anyone know if all of Season 2 is online anywhere? NBC.com and hulu.com only have the last 6 episodes.
